How can i design my magazine Index page to be attractive ?

I try to design magazine with this title how can i arrange them to have more customers
(magazine for a company Retirements )

Cooking,Social report, News, medical , Conferences report, story, book recommended , Variety, hobbies, Psychology,

all you have to do is think of the perfect background that will suit your topic. but never, i mean NEVER put too much pictures that will clash against each other. that goes with the font color too. it should be visible but not too catchy that the background picture sinks in. get the picture boi? =]
