Generally boys and girls are on different floors and a curfew is enforced. Plus they do not allow the opposite sex to be on the floor of one or the other. You are given downtime to hang out at dinner and after the days activities have concluded and at some events on the final day they have a dance or some other event(s). Any extra curricular event shows up well on a transcript these days so i bet this would too. And as for it being fun it really depends on what you make of it and your luck of the draw. And by luck i mean don't get stuck with crappy room mates that can be a pain.
