WikiLeaks Release 1.0
Insight into vision, motivation and innovation
During the last 12 months WikiLeaks representatives have been talking at numerous conferences, from technology via human rights to media focused, in an effort to introduce WikiLeaks to the world. WikiLeaks has had major document releases that have spawned attention in all major newspapers by now, it has triggered important reform and has established itself as part of the accepted media reality.
Little did we have the chance though to talk about a bigger picture, especially of how we perceive the future and its constraints.
We therefore would like to talk about our vision of the information society, journalism’s role in that society, as well as our role in it. Along this vision we will introduce new features for WikiLeaks Release 1.0, that will be no short of changing the world as we all know it.

It’s critical sites like wikileaks remain up and running!
@colloredbrothers …
@colloredbrothers Can’t be sure about that. Maybe they are contemplating it without telling you
(And all …
(And all democracies are dictatorships.)
Anyway, with respect to your point. If a bunch of statists setup a ‘freedom of information’ service my inkling would be that it would be turned to the uses of propaganda sooner or later. It’s also a waste of energy for people to be constantly scrambling around regarding low level political boondoggles.
And in the worst instance its going to fine tune the real corruption to have even better PR, while maintaining it’s source, the state itself.
Not exactly sure of …
Not exactly sure of your point, but I take it you trust your government completely. I’m happy for you. As long as your government is run by completely selfless, altruistic people, you might be fine.
History suggests it is a bad idea to trust government, however. Any government.
And European history in particular shows us why.
It’s not that government officials necessarily are evil. It’s that government itself has no conscience. No morality. It just is not capable of human morality.

I dont want to be harsh but my governement wasnt contemplating forced vacines and querantines.
Well, I agree with …
Well, I agree with you: However, you can’t change the system unless an informed citizenry has access to important information such as they put out. In order to show just what elements of the system are corrupt, leaks such as those are excellent tools, which could be used to prosecute and investigate parties involved. By the way: I don’t really agree with the socialist way of thinking, as I think that freedom is the only way to acheive a healthy society (all dictatorships are morally bankrupt).
Just different …
Just different organizational systems for the exact same thing. Communism is more of a state run cleptocratic collectivist tyranny, and Fascism is more of a corporatist/contracted run version of the same thing.
In both cases, the goal is to dominate society, steal their wealth, and force your own business interests.
I think America is turning into a mix of both Fascism and Communism to an increasing degree every year… all the worst parts of both.
The authors tried …
The authors tried to ban slavery right out of the gate, actually. People seem to forget that the United States didn’t colonize North America, Europeans did. The United States was a rebellion to the tyranny of traditional European social structures and society.
They also fail to realize that even early on, there were traitors to the concept of American Individual Liberty as dictated by the constitution, as can be found in the writings of Thoman Jefferson in great supply.
By the time natives …
By the time natives started being treated in the deplorably way they did, America had already established a Central bank friendly to European interests, and the take over of the constitutional republic had already begun to take footing.
The America of today, unless we get rid of the foriegn banking interests controling the issuance of our currency, is what dragged us into these immoral and illegal wars. They break our own laws, let me remind you.
Actually, the …
Actually, the European colonies that existed before the US were built with the help of slavery, and the peaceful treaties that the Americans had with the natives were destroyed when the British stirred up tensions, by paying certain tribes to slaughter whole settlements. The Natives were not all one racial group, either. Many had immigrated and settled, just like the many other colonists before Europeans even came here.
This guy is …
This guy is absolutely right. Thomas Jefferson attempted to abolish slavery in the original draft of the constitution, but was forced to take it out by others who were slightly more European in thinking. One of the articles of the Declaration of Independance lists the King of England’s support of the slave trade as one of the reasons for the revolution. It took around 100 years to eradicate what the Europeans had established in colonial times (slavery).
I just donated to …
I just donated to wikileaks. Thank god for that website. Its a beautiful thing really, people all around the world working together to increase freedom and liberties for all
Of course not. That …
Of course not. That would be the European tradition.
Our nation was founded on principles set out in our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
This created a huge conflict with the existing practice of slavery. Eventually, this became intolerable and we ended slavery.
Personally, I think this is a huge accomplishment for us. That we identified an evil practice– one created and tolerated happily in the rest of the world– and eliminated it, is to our great credit.
So… your end …
So… your end justifies the means, Roger that.
The entire world …
The entire world was mired in slavery, from the inception of humans. We suffered more than half a million dead *overcoming* slavery– the economic legacy of the tyrant we overthrew.
We have nothing for which to apologize regarding slavery.
We have a basis for freedom. We keep coming back to it because it is our legacy.
What is yours? Communism? I suppose you are proud of this?
right Roger and we …
right Roger and we are to completely look over the fact that the US was born with the help of slavery and by committing genocide against the american indians. Or that your freedom dragged the whole world in a war that they have no reason for being in.
I think you nitpick …
I think you nitpick over terms. Communism and Fascism are both implementations of socialism, only varying in details.
So, use a better general term– collectivism, statism. It all leads to tyranny and denial of personal sovereignty.
I never said any …
I never said any such thing, nor do any of my ideological colleagues.
Give insurance companies force of law? That is that Obama plan.
Try freedom. It actually works.
