What are your thoughts about college teams moving to different conferences?

Please explain all the teams that moved and to what conference. Will the name of the conference change?
Is *insert college team that will move* joining the *insert name of conference* a good thing? a bad thing? Why?

Overall was it a good idea or bad one?

when Nebraska left the big 12 it started a chain reaction and all the other teams will leave within two weeks, i dont think this will be a good thing because the pac 10 will invite most these teams from the big 12 and they will end up with about 14-16 teams, that will lead to the other major conferences to invite teams, which will probably lead to four super-conferences (pac 14-16, Big 10-14, SEC, ACC). i think ND will even have to join a conference (Big 10-14 or ACC) because if they dont they will not be able to play again most teams from these super conferences and basically they will HAVE A WEAK SCHEDULE, but i think within 5 years the landscape of college football will be completely changed.

  1. Nebraska f’d it up for everyone……I really enjoyed the Big 12 conference, probably the 2nd strongest conference after the SEC.

  2. The only team moving right now is Colorado to the Pac 10. I heard an interview with their AD this morning who claims that tens of thousands more of their alumni live in the Pac 10 footprint than the Big 12 and that the Pac 10’s better academic reputation will benefit them as well.

Truthfully, CU hasn’t been a factor in college football for well over a decade so it probably doesn’t really matter where they play. The biggest issue for the Big 12 is that they will lose their championship game with fewer than 12 teams in the conference.

  9. I think it is a good thing. The BCS has made it so that only certain teams can ever play for a national chapionship. Take Boisie State, they have had great seasons and because of their conference could never play for the national champioship. I think what upsets people is the chance to miss out on traditional rivalries. Well things change.

  10. As an Iowa fan, I don’t want to see either Nebraska or Notre Dame in the Big Ten because I hate both teams with a passion. However, Nebraska is a done deal and eventually Notre Dame will be once the Big Ten strongarms them by raiding the Big East conference (looking at Pitt, Syracuse, and Rutgers).

Change is inevitable, people howled when Penn State joined the Big 10 and the old Southwest Conference merged with the Big Eight to form the Big 12. The world didn’t end then, I guess it won’t end now. However, if people think this will bring us closer to a playoff, think again. The Big 10 and Pac 10 both voted against a playoff and they’re wanting to be stronger when all is said and done, especially if either of them get Texas and the Big 10 gets Notre Dame.

  11. It a great idea its going to help everyone. Remember the Big 12 was a shootgun marriage with the old southwest conferance. Nobody wanted it. Nebraska is going to earn more money. Colorado wants to be in the pac ten and fit their better and Texas and the oklahomas will make the Pac ten more competitve. If the sec takes Texas AM then Kansas will join the pac ten. However I think the rest of the cast offs will join the Mountain West. That is not so bad since Mountain West just got Boise. Imagine Boise, Kansas, Missouri, Kstate, iowa state, colorado state,AF Utah and TCU. Thats a damn good confrence. Also automatic bids are going to be open again in 2012 so the mountain west will and should get a automatic bid to the BCS. I mean these future Mountain west teams could have two nation champ teams in major sports. Boise (football) kansas (basketball). Kansas and missouri will have a better shot to make the BCS each year which is why this whole mess happened in the first place. This conference would be better then the big east and maybe the ACC. I think everyone wins who loses Baylor. Baylor calling legeslation make them a package deal w. texas. but comon really who is baylor more like Texas. texas AM or houston and SMU…. Welcome to Confernace USA Baylor and sorry but you are the loser in this deal.
