What are the best (or largest) technology conferences focused on serving special needs children ?

I’m especially interested in those that focus on the the use of technology in the teaching or treatment of autistic kids. (Are there conferences focused on these populations or does this fall in the area of the SIGS of large conferences/associations, such as ISTE.)
Blondbrainserenity (and others) – in general I’m looking for technology for instruction purposes – in terms of hardware: PCs, Interactive Whiteboards, tablet PC’s, etc., in terms of software/applications, it would include modeling/drawing/organization programs such as Autism Pro, BoardMaker, DT Trainer, Speaking Dynamically, etc.

Hope this helps…

  2. For networking on a broader spectrum, check out the annual Family Cafe’ conference in Orlando. The special needs community is very well integrated, considering that families are being increasingly afflicted with multiple challenges.

These are the 2 best sites for special ed laws and rights, owned by sped attorneys.

These sites sometimes have info on what you are looking for.
    good luck!

Google "RERC" (Rehabilitation Engineeriing Research Centers). This is a network of R&D centers nationwide. In addition to technical info, they all have outreach programs, links, online resources, and information on their own and other conferences. There’s no one website–they each have their own.

Also try NIDRR (National Institute for Disability Rehabilitation Research)

This is entirely dependent on what kind of technology you are referring to..? I am a mother of a 3 yro autist. I serve on two special education boards and a "great start" children 0 to 6 board. I am also by profession an autism parent consultant. I would be happy to discuss your question via email.
