How many professional and academic conferences are there in the US?
This would include scientific, academic, government, industrial and professional conferences. I am looking for a total number which are offered in the United States per year.
I have no idea of any specific number. It’s gotta be huge though. If you want a rough estimate though, go to a few of the large convention centers and look at their calendars. The minneapolis convention center had 33 events in April, so that’s about 400 conventions a year. Minneapolis has about 400 thousand of the 300 million people in the US, so the total number would be about 750 times that. I’d estimate then that there are about 300,000 conventions a year in the US. Less than a million, more than a hundred thousand.
