Why is the Western Conference completely gone from the spotlight?

All these free agents thinking about signing with Eastern Conference teams meanwhile the Western Conference is left unscathed by this or at the very least under the radar. The Lakers have to be chuckling knowing they basically have a guaranteed Western Conference Championship and appearance in the 2011 Finals compared to the Eastern Conference which is destined to become a huge battlefield when this is all over.

    Maybe because the West is so damn deep that it wouldnt be a chock for ANY team to get bounced in round 1.
