Which conference is stronger this year the Western or the Eastern?

The Eastern conference has 3 elite teams, and the Western has one. But only 4 teams in the East have a record that would compete for a playoff spot in the west. But the West has more bottom feeders such as Sac, LAC, Memphis, OKC. So they play easier games. Which conference in your opinion is stronger?

The West, I pretty much agree with all the other answers about the west of 50 wins with the Mavs for the 8th seed.

But you got to remember that every time someone in the west play each other from the allstar break till the end of the season…it is almost playoff atmosphere like. Knowing that 1 winning team will not make it to the playoffs…and 1 win or lose can either give you the 2nd seed or 9th and out of the playoffs completely. The West has their level of play alot higher than most of the teams of the east because of this reason.

  1. west, dallas with a close 50 win season will end up as the 8th seed

    and in the east chicago probably not winning more than 40 games are the 8th seed

  2. The Western is still stronger, from top to bottom. From 1st to even 9th, they all have winning records. The Eastern has 3 great teams, and 3 more with winning records. From 6th to 9th or so is all mediocre and bad teams.

    The Suns who are sitting 9th right now in the West could easily make the playoffs if they were in the East with the record they have.

    It has to be the West, yes you said that the west has a lot of weak teams, but you also have to deal with the Lakers, Nuggets, Spurs, Houston, Blazers, Hornets, Jazz, Dallas, and the Suns who are not even in the playoff picture. I say if you take some of the teams from the east and put them in the west they will have a terrible record too.

    Yeah, the east may have better teams at the top, but the west is just flat out better overall.

    West has Nuggets, Spurs, Rockets, Blazers, Hornets, Jazz, and Dallas and also Suns who is fighting for the 8th spot and all of these teams are above .500 so clearly the west is the most strongest.

    The West Is Stronger.

    We have many of teams to watch out for in this years playoffs: Lakers, Rockets, Spurs, Hornets, Jazz, Mavs Or Suns, Nuggets, Blazers.

    THE EAST IS DEFINETLY A TOUGHER CONFERENCE THEY HAVE CELTICS, CAVS, MAGIC, AND THE HEAT…BUT THE WEST HAS MUCH MORE EXPERIENCE HAVING THE OLDEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE (SPURS)…THEY ALSO HAVE THE LAKERS AND NUGGETS…

    THIS MAKES IT EASIER FOR THE WEST COMING PLAYOFF TIME BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY STRONG PLAYERS AT 5-8 IN THE PLAYOFF STANDINGS…EXCEPT THE JAZZ

  7. The West has 9 quality teams and 6 pushovers – this of course inflates the other 9’s records. They also have only 1 real elite team: The Lakers.
    The East has 3 Elites (the Magic actually swept their series vs the Lake Show) and then just a bunch of mediocre teams – even the Wizards, don’t forget the injuries, are mediocre. But as the Lakers are finding out on their current road trip, these "mediocre" East teams play defense and never say DIE. I predict another loss of for the Lakers tonight in Milwaukee. (Cavs are 25-4 against the west with one game to go (Spurs))

  8. Overall the West is stronger. There is absolutely no way the Mavericks would be the 8th seed in the East. However the road to the Finals in the East may be tougher because there is 3 great teams in that conference.

    the west is more balanced as far as record, but the east has a larger number of strong teams that are dominating. Cleveland, BOSTON, Orlando..

    while the west has the Laker running it!

The East is more powerful, almost all the best players in the nba are in the east, you have 3 powerhouses in the east, and the west has usually been the stronger side but the past few years the east is controlling the nba with dominant players and teams and the east will once again take the nba championship i dont know when the next time the west will do it. The west has too many weak teams it looks like whatever weak team there is in the league their in the west.
