Does anyone know any secrets to getting a free trip? Even if it is through attending conferences or seminars?

Timeshare sales companies will often offer free trips in order to get people to listen to their sales pitches. While this is a good way to get a free trip, you have to be vigilant about everything. Read the fine print, don’t let someone guilt you into buying, etc. For the best advice on determining if a timeshare is for you, give a listen to Clark Howard, a syndicated radio show host from Atlanta. You can find his site at http://www.clarkhoward.com/ . If timeshares aren’t for you, don’t get talked into buying one.

Now, for a longer route to getting free travel, you may want to consider becoming a travel writer. The best thing about this path is that you don’t have to scam anyone or listen to a sales pitch in order to get a free trip. You simply pay them in a different way – by writing an article about your experience. Resorts, airlines, and even restaurants will offer their services for free if you’ll give them a good write-up.

While this does sound great, keep in mind that you have to work at it and develop a good reputation. There are a couple of places to get started on a travel writing career path, but I can’t endorse any of them at this point. The best way to get started is to do a search for "travel writing" on your favorite search engine.

Good luck and safe travels.
