whats the name of the song that is played at some major sporting events? that sounds like church bells ringing

For those of you that live in the phoenix area this song gets played as an intro to the killer D’s on channel12 for everyone else I heard the song during the Pittsburgh penguins eastern conference championship game during the third period during a Philly timeout. I have heard this tune at other sports events. It has a descending church bell tone to it. I had a friend suggest its metalica "from whom the bell tolls" but it doesn’t sound like the song I’m looking for.

"Hell’s Bells" by AC-DC, maybe?

Kind of funny to me that people love the song with the bells.

My answer is Metallica "For whom The Bell Tolls" because Metallica

  3. Hells Bells…very common song in sports…I’ve been to Pittsburgh, they do play the song. Likewise, many NFL football teams play it when the home team is on defense on 3rd down…You hear that song alot!

Its either Hells Bells by ACDC or For whom the bell tolls by metallica. Both are played regularly at sporting events. I believe the bell sounds really similar in both songs. In Hells Bells. The bell rings four times before a slow melodic guitar riff comes in with a slightly dirty sound. In For Whom the Bell Tolls the bell rings twice before a very heavily distorted "harder" guitar riff comes in. I personally would rather listen to "For Whom the Bell Tolls"

I really do think its the begining of Metallica’s "For whom the bell tolls". They play it tons of games. Its just a solitary bell, if youre listening to the song it does its thing like 3 or 4 times then the guitar starts, so if you’re just hearing a clip of the song, you may not be hearing that part before the tune actually starts.
