This was such a good film, it gave me a good understanding of something i knew little about and i love Cillian Murphy, one day i will marry him :)

  10. Different IRA. In …
Different IRA. In the 1919 General Election Sinn Fein won a 75 of a possible 105 seats. The IRA struggle in 1920’s was a fight for democracy. Nothing more. We all have our own opinions about the Northern Struggle. Why post them under a video that is referencing 50 years before it happened?

  11. i’m a north …
i’m a north american and loved this movie. glad i had the chance to see it.

  12. ITS NICE TO KNOW …
ITS NICE TO KNOW THE WE THE IRISH FOUGHT AND BEAT THE ENGLISH ON OUR SOIL,BE GONE YE ENGLISH WE LL NEVER BE BOUGHT AND SOLD WITH YE ENGLISH GOLD…..and now,on to something completey different!! man lose s his head on open air bus

  13. spurs the problem …
spurs the problem today is not Ireland,a certain section of society in one day slaughtered ove 3000 ppl, and daily we see them slaughter and slay their own kind in as condoned in their ‘holy’ book, while scrteaming the name of their God, lets be concentrating on that, because this violence we see daily has not stopped the last 14 centuries, we all must unite this time

  14. The stupid …
The stupid named loyal spurs forgets about how people retaliate after theyve been murdered off for 700 years!!! what would any country do in that situation attack them back EXACTLY!

  15. Well the UVA …
Well the UVA SCUM up the north murdered innocent Irish civillians who just wanted more POLITICAL FREEDOM U STUPID THATS WHAT YOUR KIND DID FOR 700 YEARS YOU STUPID THE SOLDIERS FIRED ON CATHOLIC PROTESTORS FIRST AND THEN WE ATTACKED LIKE ANYONE ELSE WOULD!!! GOD DONT TALK ABOUT OUR HISTORY IF YOU DONT KNOW SHIT!!

  16. well…happy to …
well…happy to report this film is playing very well in the US. Not only is it on cable quite regulary They had a sold out screening in Philadelphia a few months back.

  17. im not from england …
im not from england or ireland so maybe my opinion dosnt mean anything, but if the english had freed ireland in the twenties, do you think the IRA would still be bombing? and if you want to talk about numbers killed…how many have the british killed worldwide in their quest for an empire? just a thought…

  18. They didnt kill …
They didnt kill 3,000 u fool. The IRA killed over 1,300 british forces and 600 civillians died in bombings usually. Get your facts right beofre you comment. And britain is not a mainland.Look at a world map, ur just a tiny island

  19. Excuse me, but I …
Excuse me, but I was under the impression this was a film about the twenties, not the seventies.

  20. “Bad Press about …
“Bad Press about the IRA??” Oh didums !thats because the scum killed 3,000 MEN WOMEN AND CHILDREN! name me one film about an IRA terrorist attack on the mainland…….nope didnt think you could !
Ken Loach is a filthy red with his own agenda (and axe to grind) if were going to start sweaping things under the carpet lets remeber about some other places that never get a mention…..
    Birmingham
    Guldford
    Woolwich
    Brighton
    London

    Enniskill

    yeh in all fairness …
yeh in all fairness they showed one side of the film but the british were the ones that came into our country and tried to take it and thats what the films about there not tryin t say whoz gud or bad

  22. Fuck off
    off

  23. There are 2 sides …
There are 2 sides to every story… do you expect every film maker to do what Clint Eastwood did when he made Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima simotaniously… I don’t. that is very rare to see, Loach did this story, maybe one day someone will make one showing the things you want shown… BTW, Loach is an Englishman, so I don’t think this is bias.

  24. basically all sides …
basically all sides killed each other, but you don’t see the Irish gov’t pulling the carpet over the killing of English citizens as the English did over the killing of Irish by the Black and Tan’s. If those of you who are English were subjected to this kind of occupation you’d be offended as well and even fight back. So how are the Irish better or worse for wanting their own freedom?

    I really liked this …
I really liked this film, it opened my eyes, and i hated how silly some critics and views of others were calling it anti-British, so reality and truth should be swept under the carpet for the sake of pride? Its terrible that in the 20 odd years of my life there has been nothing but bad press about the IRA and yes rightly so,they have done some unspeakable things but so have the British forces!
